There's different types of hackers. There's hackers that can find the weak points in a secured network in order to get their way into a system.
There is the type of hacker that writes programs for several different reasons and there is a Hobbyist Hacker that can modify electrical devices (radios, phones, alarm systems, microwaves, electronics in a vehicle). Someone could hack a vehicle by installing a car bomb. Someone could hack into a server using brute force methods. Someone could hack a program by writing a cracker or crack a program to bypass activation. There's probably much more. Ads |

Craig is ignorant and stupid. Anyway...
Hacking CAN be illegal, but it is not always illegal. White hat hackers hack ethically, which means they only hack systems that they have authorization to hack. They only hack to test the security of a system. They are the good guy hackers. Grey hat hackers hack things to make their life easier, but not everything they do is completely legal. Most hackers fall into this category. Black hat hackers are the bad guys who hack maliciously and often perform major cyber crimes. There are different skill levels of hackers as well. The script kiddie is the lowest skill level. They know little to nothing about programming and use a program already made to "hack" whatever they need. They use the pre-existing program, usually something they downloaded off the internet and not sure how it works, and cannot make their own program. The computer technician knows their way around the computer and can do more than a script kiddie. A computer scientist can write a program from scratch and is much more knowledgeable on the subject. These are the ones that can do the most damage if they are so inclined. So there is some useful information you might find interesting. If you want to know more, check sources. |

Delving into programmed logic to learn how it works is hacking. However, the general public believes hacking is to break into computer systems and networks, but in truth it is a lot broader than that.

What is hacking?
Hacking is the practice of modifying the features of a system, in order to accomplish a goal outside of the creator's original purpose. The person who is consistently engaging in hacking activities, and has accepted hacking as a lifestyle and philosophy of their choice, is called a hacker. Computer hacking is the most popular form of hacking nowadays, especially in the field of computer security, but hacking exists in many other forms, such as phone hacking, brain hacking, etc. and it's not limited to either of them. Due to the mass attention given to blackhat hackers from the media, the whole hacking term is often mistaken for any security related cyber crime. This damages the reputation of all hackers, and is very cruel and unfair to the law abiding ones of them, from who the term itself originated. The goal of this website is to introduce people the true philosophy and ethics of hackers, hopefully clearing their name and giving them the social status they deserve. |
