Is Facebook really still popular?

I've had Facebook a couple of times, but it was hard for me to be interested in it for long.
People telling a mass of people they barely know or have never met what the have for dinner, where they are, sharing things that should be private and really arrogant comments. Is it still pretty big? I haven't really heard much lately which is awesome, but weird.

yes.. people of other social sites like orkut, gmail.. they all are still using facebook and some of them use it for their professions. It is very popular in youth and students.
