I accidentally downloaded something and now I have tons of adds!!!?
Help!!! I accidentally downloaded a few things on my computer and now there's annoying ads everywhere! I tried deleting anything that might be the cause if it, but my computer is still very slow and clogged with ads. It's a family computer so my parents are going to kill me if they find out. I don't know what to do. My computer is windows 7 if that helps to know. Help!!! Sad

Yeah you're gonna have to fess up and take the lecture. Since you don't know what you're doing they're going to have to get someone to fix it. Stop deleting things willy-nilly, you might actually do some real damage.

This is a common issue on this days.. So basically you can go start to try and scan with software but you should know that till now there are no good software versus adware.. the thing you can do though that will really get ads out is :

System Restore can avoid this steps so if you wanna you may use System Restore and Restore your computer prior to this installation. If Restore is disabled or not available then proceed to steps

Step 1
Run msconfig
Disable any programs that start that you dont need it is one of the best way to deal with it swiftly
( Warning in Services you can only disable non Microsoft proccess or you may end up make your windows unbootable and will need to fix them in safe mode after it )

So basically it is safe to remove anything that is not from Microsoft.

Step 2
Try to check in Add and Remove Programs and remove any software you are not aware.

Step 3
Open every browser you got and manually change the home adress and disable any extensions browser runing.
