Websites like ebay and etsy but free?
I wanted to join etsy and sell some of my shirts but they ask for social security and theres a monthly fee. Where can I sell my shirts but for free and without them asking for my Social Security number? Thanks!

You won't find anything. They need your SSN to prevent tax cheats and check your credit.

Etsy fees are I believe 20 cents per item listed and 6% of any sales, well worth the expense vs some free site that doesn't get any traffic to your page.

The SS# generally required by any sites that end you money, the IRS requires them to report payments totaling more than $600 in a year, although they are not really paying you just middle men, an alternative tax ID acceptable by the IRS is an Employer number EIN, which a simple business using a doing business as name can get. Etsy's a well established business that's not going to use your info for any identify fraud, there's the small risk of their data being hacked, but that could happen to the IRS as well.
