Hi,

I had to analyse this excerpt.

Theorists argue that audiences choose what to watch among a wide range of options, choose how much to watch, and may choose the mute button or the VCR remote over the programming selected by the network or cable station. Studies of mass media conducted by sociologists paralell text-reading and interpretation research completed by linguists. Both groups of researchers find that when people approach material, whether written text or media images and messages, they interpret that material based on their knowledge and experience. Thus, when researchers ask different groups to explain the meaning of a particular song or vid, groups produce widely divergent interpretations

I stated that this article incorporated the social action theory and gave the ffg reasoning.

- Interpretation was used which this theory favors.
- Research was used which this method favors.
- A final result was concluded by analysing the info.
- Info is objective and neutral.
- It is interpretative
- It uses qualitative means of data eg research.

Will I get at least some marks, it was out of 4?
I wrote a test out of 16. The first part was out of 12. Supposing, I got 50 to 60% for the first section, I would need at least 1 or so here. Would I get anything?

I did not inc;ude the whole article.

It's late(so I'm a little foggy, sorry), but I think you should be alright for 1, or 2(so you should be home-free).

I'd say it does use Social Action Theory, why people prefer Individual-choices, rather than network-programming, and then it progresses into a conclusion that it's about perspective, and personal experience.

So you should be good.
