What does RT mean on twitter?

Whenever people reply to others it says RT sometimes, what's RT mean?

RT stands for ReTweet. When someone's tweet (post) has a link or comment you want to share with others, you put RT and the link from the original tweet or a link to the original tweet. (It's considered good manners to credit the original tweeter, too.)

RT does NOT stand for "Respond to" or "Reply to." When you want to reply to someone's tweet, you click the little curled arrow to the right of their tweet and the system automatically puts "@" and their username. So @MavistheMaven would mean you're replying to my tweet (not RT).
