Internet slow when raining?
I notice that whenever there is a rainstorm, my internet goes really slow. There seems to be a direct correlation between how hard it rains, and the speed of the internet. When it downpours hard, the internet is so slow that it is unusable (can't watch any videos even in 144p because they do not load and it takes around 30 seconds to access my email!), but when it is only barely sprinkling I hardly notice a slowdown in internet speed and I can watch videos in 1080 without any issues.

I have also ran a speedtest to verify the issue. Here are the results below:

Speedtest when not raining:
Ping: 49ms
Download: 2.6mb/s
Upload:0.56mb/s

Speedtest when raining:
Ping: 145ms
Download: 0.12mb/s
Upload: 0.11mb/s

Is it normal for the internet to be slower when it is raining outside?

Could the rain water be shorting out my internet, and if so is there anything I can do so the rain doesn't cause my internet to slow down?

The internet company is AT&T

I have Time Warner cable and Internet service... and I remember when it used to rain hard the cable TV would become really bad. The cable connection at the curb was becoming flooding and causing the problems.

Your only option would be to report the problem... it's possible they just need to replace the splitter on the cable line that enters your house.
