Im spending Halloween Alone, and I feel horrible about it, what can I do?
I had some pretty big plans for Halloween this year, I bought some awesome costumes *Been saving up* and I was planning on having a cosplay meetup in downtown chicago. After I created the event page on facebook, cosplay.com and other websites, after several weeks, I get the same responses.

Sorry I cant make it, Im going to another event that night.
Its too dangerous to go into the city.
Theres no place to park
Im going to another event that day.

So come to find out that behind my back, there was another cosplay event planned in the Chicago Suburbs which I wasnt invited to. I tried to ask my friends an explanation on why they didn't invite me they just ignored me. I got so angry that not only i unfriended them but I blocked them from my facebook, phone and all that stuff. I cancelled my meetup, took my costumes balled them up and stuffed them in a box and cried all night long knowing that I have nothing to do the Friday before Halloween or Halloween Week. Thanks to those asshats all of my Halloween plans are ruined. I was really looking forward to cosplaying as Fionna From Adventure Time but now its not gonna happen. Sure I could go to some random bar or club but I dont feel comfortable in those kind of places unless I had my friends with me as a buffer and I dont want to go by my self so I guess Im stuck at home.

What should I do, am I forced to stay home and watch the baseball playoffs and miss out on another year of Halloween fun or force myself to go to some random bar or pub where I might get either ignored or hit on by 50 year old drunken businessmen? *Who to me are the most unattractive people on earth next to hipsters*

You should be asking yourself why your " friends" were not honest with you and why they did not include you in their plans. Then you need to grow up and re invent yourself .

You seem to be very immature and self centered.

Look at your local news papers (& online) for other places having parties on FRi. Not some local pub, but larger bar/club. There is always another party.

This is not unusual. Really the unusual thing is spending holidays with people. There is no reason to to feel horrible about it. People always seem to think that even Christmas should be a holiday when everyone gets together with loved ones and if you don't there is something unusual about you but really to the other way around. Every Halloween and Christmas, I don't have a big party myself. I get together with my brother. He likes to make his own beer, so we buy good food and drink his wonderful beer and hang out and talk. Nothing too flashy. I often feel , especially tonight, as I didn't do much today, kind of ashamed. I think we like to think of movies and tv when our favorite characters are off making really good relationships or saving the world and we want to be like them. But the movies don't usually show that they too need to sleep, eat, use the bathroom, get stuck in a traffic jam, or often have a boring day. When I was little I use to watch Star Trek a lot. They only had one episode in which they had a regular day on the space ship, and I think law and order did an episode like that too. But really the days like that are more common, they just don't capture an audience, but life isn't about capturing an audience or at least it shouldn't be... Holidays are more intense with the feeling of loneliness because the media hypes it up so much more.

Also ask your friend why they lied to you. Ask them with patience and kindness so they can give an honest answer without fear. Sometimes people we hang out with know us more than we know ourselves. This answer might be hurtful but it might be right. I was told a few years ago from my close friends that I can often be critical and judgemental. They also stated that I reminded them of robin Williams character in the movie awakenings. Robin Williams played a person who was often shy, non out spoken and was terrible in social situations. At first I was angry over the accusatons but I kept my mind open and have become a better person because of them. My friends were right.

Jeez dude. Sad
That sucks.
Just go to the meet up anyway? I mean, you could sitll probably get to have a good time in your costumes!

You could also look for some rave/dancing/clubbing events or costumes contests!

D: I'm sorry that happened.
