Can my employer spy on my facebook and share it around?
Recently I was told of an email that was circulated to all senior Executives and Directors of the company I work for that contained a screenshot of my Facebook wall.
The email was specifically sent for the purpose of sharing details of my wall - in particular a comment made by one of my friends (which by the way did not mention my company) My privacy settings mean that only my friends can see my posts/status and furthermore I cannot be searched or have people see any photos I am tagged in. Therefore I would maintain that I have a very high standard of privacy attached to my Facebook. Obviously someone who is friends with me has taken the original screendump to executives at my company - but is it a breach of my privacy to then share it around my workplace with people who are clearly not on my "friends" list? Just to clarify, I am on 12 months leave from work (and I don't use FB at work anyway as I'm one of the few who are too busy working!) and all this went down while I'm not even there. I found out when a 3rd party phoned me to advise what had happened. Ads |

Anyone can get your Facebook without your knowledge. Using programs like Firesheep. I wont beat you up about it, just dont do that crap on work machines and you will be kosher. Not worth getting s&^tcanned over, FACEBOOK is like a bathroom toilet, dont put anything you wouldnt want anyone to see theres no privacy

For the italian law this is a big privacy abuse, and also violation, but i don't know (but i hope it's such as in italy) if in your country people can do this.
Ask to your employer who sends him screenshot, and delete it. |

If you were not using work PC to log onto Fb then you have a nasty friend at work? If this was done on a work PC then the company has rights in that respect to send you an email , but to circulate it is a bit trashy. I cancelled my Fb account. I hear rumours Fb are trying to pass laws that anything posted on Fb becomes the property of Fb and can be sold with out you knowledge, so I would be removing pics etc asap. Ring you Boss and ask if the email is being ciculated and who it originated from?
