How do I set my Facebook page to 'private'?

I don't like everyone looking at my page. . . . . How do I set it to 'private'? Or by invitation only?

go to your privacy page, and use the "limit past posts" function to make it so only friends can see your updates

then go thru all of your other information and use the audience selectors to control who can see each item as shown here
