Time Warner Cable Internet Connectivity Question?

So Earlier this morning I experience the something strange.
I could not access any other sites besides google youtube
I tried to access the internet on my phone using wifi to figure out if only my computer had this network issue.
It turns out the internet on my phone didn't work either.

So I reset the modem and everything went back to normal for the most part.

What is the cause behind all of this?

Sounds like the ISP could be having DNS issues. These sites might help
