Now that Yahoo and Facebook offer chatting through their web pages how do I prevent my users from chatting?
My users cannot install any IM programs on our network, but now they don't need them. With Yahoo mail and Facebook (and probably others), they can chat directly from the web page itself.
As a Network Administrator, how do I shut this ability down, but still allow them to check their e-mail and do other Internet browsing? Ads |

Obtain web-filtering software and restrict them from Yahoo and Facebook (and other sites like that)

well with IE6 and under you can disable all activeX. With IE7 you can look for an option to not use the native XMLHTTPRequest object in the settings and also disable ActiveX. There is nothing you can really do with the other browsers other than run netscape 4.
Is there a reason you want to disable this? If you do not trust it, there are a billion other ways to submit data to the server without yo knowing it and it has been happening for years. Only real way s to disable JavaScript as Bear said. If you run Firefox, you can install noscript. |
