Optifine for minecraft 1.7.2 not working? please help?

I tried to download it for 1.7.2 minecraft but it said minecraft version 1.7.2 not found even though I'm on 1.7.4 and switched to 1.7.2 and tried again and it said the same thing. Please tell me what I did wrong or have to do Thanks

Hi! I'm Nick, I ran into the same issue! What you need to do is download minecraft if you already haven't and follow these steps:

Go to Start

>type %appdata%

>go to your .minecraft

>open versions folder

If you see 1.7.2 in there delete your .minecraft folder and re-download it, then follow the continuing steps. If you don't have 1.7.2 in the folder keep reading

>Open your minecraft

>Go to any server

>Join it, and type something (anything)

>Hit [esc] and quit the game

>Exit out of Minecraft

>Then Check your Version folder, if you see 1.7.2 then click [Install] on your Optifine!

Hey, My minecraft is still saying "1.7.2 not found" when I hit install it still says that. Now im on Windows 8 I don't know I that effects that but I do know that I on my old laptop I was able to download it to there and it was windows 7.... Please help!!

Hello, I am having the same problem but worse i think. The servers just keep pinging and as soon as i join single player it just crashed i dont even get chance to get on the game! Please can you help me
