Why do people use Facebook to advertise their emotions?

I swear...trivial things always come up on my newsfeed. 80% are romantic relationships based and others are about how other people piss them off. Recently this person on my friends list keeps posting statuses about all the interviews for jobs they are getting...and even made one status about how overqualified he was for one of those jobs he was applying too. I think there should be a tutorial on Facebook etiquette

People tend to use Facebook as a virtual diary. I tend to avoid those people.
