Which Internet Provider to choose?

Hi,

Just moved into a new house, and my priority is to get a good internet connection, because of my work.

I can see, a BT box, a NTL box and also a Virgin box stuck inside my living room and bedroom the house.

The Virgin Box has 1 cable sticking out and is the most cleanest of the two meaning it was installed recently.

The NTL box has a number of cables sticking out and looks in an 'ok' condition.

The BT box is on the floor hanging with a single wire from the cable, the other cables are severed.

I personally prefer virgin, just because I like the sound of 'optical fibre'.

But I want to get some suggestions as to which I should opt for...thanks.

virgin and BT are fast
from what i heard bt is expensive but faster
