how do i fix internet explorer 11?

I have IE 11 installed on Sony laptop , everything works fine until a pop up appears on my home page [ yahoo ] the pop up appears to be genuine Microsoft asking to set up IE 11 whenever I click it , i.e. accept, close via top right hand x, it disappears but then my yahoo malfunctions, the sport , entertainment, finance, options don't work, the top right mail option doesn't work although I can access it via left hand side, system restore brings it back to normal, but I've done it know 3 x times in last week, Firefox works ok so the bug !! or whatever it is in IE, its driving me mad and the next thing I can do is restore to factory settings unless anybody knows how to fix. thanks in anticipation.

Post if you'r also deleting IE 11 individually, specifically.

Many are reporting success w/ that and then restoring their previous IE.

Could be a fraudulent pop-up generated by malware.  Scan with MalwareBytes Anti-Malware.
