Is it "tacky" to advertise via your Facebook status?
Say a person has a business and is running a special, or someone's selling a car (or a washing machine, clothes, or whatever). Do you think it's tacky/poor etiquette for someone to advertise it on their Facebook status assuming most of the people that will be reading it are friends? Or do you think it's appropriate?

Just curious what you think as my hubby and I were having a conversation about this. At this point I don't feel strong one way or the other. I'm wondering what you all think.

I'm not sure that it is even legal. What I would do if I were you, is read up on Facebook's FAQs first and see what it says, otherwise they might not only ban you, but fine you as well. Best be safe than sorry.

No, the entire point of facebook is advertise your status. That, and to post pictures of yourself intoxicated. If people don't like it, they can defriend you or hide updates from you.

If Facebook thinks it's OK, it's OK. The etiquette rules of a website are determined by the site's owners.

And no one's forcing your friends to look at your Facebook page. If they don't like it, they don't have to look at it.
