Me and my friend are trying to get some extra money by mowing other people lawns.

We are not sure how to get the word out (door-to-door, flyers, etc.)

You can start a really fun and interesting Facebook page, list your rates and schedule. To further get some exposure start a Facebook event telling people of your new service.

For such a local business the internet would probably be a secondary source, hand delivered flyers offering an introductory special or cut rate pries might be best, (you will have to learn the going rates of the full time professionals serving the community) Those coupon flyer mailings might be good, but it would be a significant investment.
