How can employers view your Facebook page?
My mum said that while she was reading the newspaper this morning she saw an article that said that employers can see the Facebook pages of people they are interviewing to see if they will employ them. I was wondering, if only people who you have added as your friends can see your page, how can these employers see your page? I am trying to convince my mum to let me have a Facebook account and this won't help me with it lol.

its becoming a common practice for employers to check sites like facebook to see if potential future employees are there. and yes. they will judge your employability by what they see.

You can restrict your privacy settings on Facebook so that no one but your friends can view your profile. If you create a profile, click on "Settings" at the top right, then "manage" under the "Privacy" section and play with the privacy settings until they suit you.

There is a public search listing option, but you can decide to disable that option (and, if you're a minor, you are not allowed to enable it). But even with this listing, you can control what information is released and what isn't. The only way your prospective employer can see anything you post is if you allow them to view it or if one of your friends allows them to view it.
