Google Analytics Tracking Method?

When we setup a google analytics account, there are two options available; one is Universal Analytics BETA and the other one is Classic Analytics. I want to know the difference between these two. I have always used the Classic Analytics method. What is Universal Analytics BETA method all about? Is it paid or is it free? Can i use Universal Analytics BETA tracking method as well? How is it different? Please help. Your answers will be highly appreciated.
