Facebook gift card scam?
Hi,

I did something stupid yesterday and filled out a form for the $1000 IKEA gift card from facebook. The only info I gave was my phone #, address, email address, and name. I then realized it was a marketing scam and left the site. But I was later contacted through a text message being offered deals, with an option to text Stop to cancel. I then received a confirmation text message saying I would no longer be receiving offers or charged.

Is this done or do I have something to worry about? Could someone use my info to charge my phone bill or identity theft?

Thanks.

Not smart.

"Phishing Scam"

EDIT

Since you were so gullible to fall for a phishing scam...

Here's a little heads up of a recent one happening.
(Well, not too recent, but many other viruses may take the same form)

This is clearly fake. They can't charge you money because you didn't give them your credit card number. But it would probably be a good idea to make sure you don't answer any emails from them (as it could be a virus which can get information off of your computer). As I said before, you didnt give out your credit card number so they won't be able to steal your identity. But be careful of these things. If you see the page again, report it to facebook immediately.

Don't try to get the gift card in the markets because those are scams.

The ad that you clicked is for a 'drawing' that could get you a gift card. This is not a scam. What this form of advertising is called is CPA (Cost Per Action). The person that placed the ad on the site gets a small commission for your submission. The people paying them get your opt-in form, and you agree to receive text messages and other offers from the advertisers that your information will be resold to. Most likely there is a $9.95 per month charge to your cell phone, no need for a credit card number.

Watch your cell bill over the next month or two. Put the time and date of your text interaction with the company on a calendar, so you have a reference point to look back on if the charges show up on your cell bill.
