Question about Amazon?
Okay, so lets say I buy two free-shipping-qualifying items and my total is over $35 and therefore I get free shipping. When I receive the items, if I return one of them and that drops my total purchase amount to under $35 do I retroactively have to pay for shipping? I know I will have to pay for RETURN shipping, but do I have to retroactively pay for initial shipment?

You will not be charged for initial shipping. Amazon has no authority to create a new charge based on a return. For a company who tries to be so customer friendly, one wouldn't be charged since it would be regarded as poor policy.
