If I plug my router into my generator during a power outage will I have internet?

I am wondering if I can just plug my wireless router into my generator during a power outage and still have internet, or is there something about the power being out that causes the internet not to work?

Yes this should work I've done this personally during hurricane sandy. You will need to plug your Modem and Router into into your generator and it SHOULD work. Good luck incase any incidents occur!

I am pretty sure you will have an internet because your internet cable is not connected to a power.

well as long as all the equipment required is plugged into the generator it will work unless the service provider has a problem. you would at minimum need your modem/gateway, wireless and any equipment on the way plugged into it. one good way to find out what you need working is unplug it and if your internet dies then you need it plugged into the generator. most residential homes you need just a modem/gateway and wireless router. but some houses are a lot more complicated and have modem/gateway, switch and wireless access points or routers that need to be plugged in.

I would get a UPS (Uniterrupted Power Supply) and plug that into generator then plug in router to UPS. The experts on a computer show I listen to said plugging computer equipment into generator is bad.
