Remove "hidden" firefox add-on ... how?
Hi have a button on the bottom right corner of my firefox browser that says: "link target finder".

I am sure it was added with an old plugin I cannot find anymore. I went to tools -> add-ons and it doesn't seem to be there.

I have searched for the plugin on the net and I cannot find it either. How can I get rid of it?

Thanks !!!

CONGRATULATIONS! It looks like you've caught one of (what I consider to be) the most annoying viruses.

First open up your Add-ons page. Click the firefox button in the top left then click the Add-ons button in the right column of the menu that pops up. Go through everything: Extensions, User Scrips, Plugins, Etc. just to make sure it's not listed under something else. If you use greasemonkey make sure you double check all of your user scripts. If you can find and disable/delete it then problem solved....

If not then you may have whats called a "Google redirect virus" or a "Search redirect virus" To test this open up google and search for something. If the results are "wrong" or the links don't take you to the page they should and instead bring you to an advertisement page or pages saying you need to download something to view them, then you've most likely got a redirect virus. If that's the case you should search (on another computer) how to remove the "Google redirect virus" I'm not going to post all the steps here because it would take too much space.

If you do not get redirected and your internet seems to be working fine, aside from the fact that you're running a plugin that you can't find or disable, you have two options. First you can assume that its a "harmless something that came with else you installed and doesn't do anything", in which case just go about you life and forget it. Second you can assume it's a virus designed to steal your information or take control of your computer. In which case you should google "how to completely remove and reinstall firefox" and follow the instructions it gives you.

I'm sorry I can't give you a quick and simple solution, but viruses suck and it will most likely be a huge pain to get rid of it. I wish you the best of luck.
