are some people on craigslist not real?
so i made arrangements with someone on craigslist to purchase two blue sofas for 250
original price was 300 but we made a deal.

Anyway, it was on monday when I talked to them to make plans for wednesday (when i would pick them up and buy them)

Now its wednesday and I have not recieved a single response from them.
I have an entire moving team set up, we are all ready to go

but now all of a sudden this person who was once so excited to sell me their couches
has suddenly dissappeared

so I dont knwo what happened

I even offered to pay them full price for their couches, but no response...

I have an entire moving team waiting .... so now I dont know what to do.

I feel like I did the most I could, its almost noon and I told the person in advance that i'd have the team today.. they already knew

so i dont get it

do you think the ad was fake?>
could it have been a prank?

the ad has been up for a little over a month

the ad had a phone number, the person was responding just fine... i dont understand

Maybe the seller had a car accident where his head is hanging by one vein.

Probably already sold to someone else and the seller is just too impolite to let you know.

There is plenty of fraud on Craigslist, you get no seller feedback history like on Ebay.

There are fake Nigerian buyers offering to overpay with a check if you forward some to a "shipping company", guys pretending to be girls hot to 'show more' on some dating site, the get an ewhore commission for getting signups. I know someone who dumbly wired money to a stranger who had shown authentic looking car documentation, they may have just got from some legit seller.

the people are real, however what they offer can easily be not so real. this is a huge marketplace and this creates lots of opportunities for.... you know who. try to pay attention to little things, the tone of the ad and the following email exchange.
