Deviantart crashes my internet...why?

I'm using a mac, and recently I've noticed that any time I try and browse deviantart my internet would lock up and eventually my whole computer. I uninstalled firefox which I was using at the time and reinstalled the newer version plus the flash update and now it only crashes occasionally, only on deviantart and when I'm clicking on certain pictures. I've heard this is actually a notorious problem with the site itself, but I just wanted to get a little more clarification. I don't have this problem in any other area, my computer runs fine else-wise, it's just the DA that seems to occasionally crash my internet and usually locks up my computer in the process. I'm assuming this is an issue with their website and may be related to bad code in certain advertisements they have running, or simply incompatibility with firefox. Once again I'm using a Mac Book, any ideas?
