Modem internet problem help please?

So i have this router and i live in an apartment and whenever someone takes the elevator from the ground floor the internet light stops blinking and i lose connection and then it comes back after few minutes. What is causing this? can someone help

If you are referring to a wireless router,it is nothing more than a radio transmitter and receiver({transceiver),which carries digital signal from your internet modem to your computer,through the air. The elevator is metal and is either interrupting the direct path or the reflected path. Attaching a large sheet of aluminum foil on the wall behind the computer and router can sometimes solve the problem. Sometimes just moving the device which contains the antenna,or the antenna, can solve the problem.
