I was 24 when the song came out in 1987. You couldn't get away from it--it was played constantly on the radio, and that video was played hourly, it seemed.
So now the meme or prank is to provide a link to something, and it actually leads to the video. It's silly, but so are most pranks. I think it has the most meaning for people who were teenagers or older when the song came out and got sick to death of it because it was everywhere.
