Can I sue my college for them posting student info on their website homepage?
I found out on the news today that out of over 8000 students, 129 students info was posted online. Some of the info included was social security numbers, birth dates, driver license numbers, phone and address plus more. The school was notified on Friday about the information. They claim since the school is close on the weekend they couldn't take the info off until Monday, all weekend long this info was available for any one in the world to see. My brother and I was one of the 129 students whose info was posted, the school is offering me 1 year of life lock. I am beyond livid, everything about me was on that website including loan info, can I sue them for this breach, they were not hacked it was a stupid error made by them,

It is obvious. Yes you can. So much details would lead to breach of privacy and potential security issues too. And details about loans and all would hurt financial credibility. No second thought about going ahead. I would have done so.
