My internet on Windows8 is opening differently? :S?

I have windows8 on my Acer laptop and before when I clicked on the desktop tile(on the app menu homescreen) and then on the chrome icon it would open more like an app, with the google homescreen covering the whole of the laptop screen. Now it opens more like on a non-windows8 laptop, with the icon bar(with the file, chrome, skype icon in the left hand corner and the time, date etc in the right hand corner) at the bottom. The screen doesnt look as sharp as before either. How can I change it back to how it was? Help appreciated!

With your chrome window open and selected, just press F11 to go full screen,
