Why is my laptop freezing?
I have a Dell laptop and sometimes at very random times everything starts freezing, games wont load, movies starts to freeze frame by frame, i cant access anything it just loads for a long period of time and it just appears (Not Responding).
This happens completly random, sometimes i just restart the laptop and everything starts running smooth again other times even when i restart it still doesnt end.
I had the laptop cleaned of dust and repasted few months ago but the problem started very recently.

What could create this problem? A Virus (i'm using avast), Some Windows problem like corrupted files or missing or stuff like that? (win8)

I'm thinking of reinstalling the windows but maybe there is something else i'm missing

Im going to share a little IT tech secret with you (this is mostly what I charge 60 bucks to clean up windows)
Click Start:
Type in: System Configuration aaand open system configuration
2.
Click on the Services Tab
3.
bottom left, is a box with "Hide all Microsoft Services, check that.

Now, just disable EVERYthing you think shouldn't be running, if you don't know what it is, Google it.
The 2 hours you may spend learning about what everything does and is, is priceless education.
Note, if the program is not driver related, then its OK to turn off, other programs may control special function Keys that you may use often, while others may control special Mouse commands, like 3 finger scroll for example, you need to learn this stuff.

Last but not least, the best anti virus out there is something called Sandboxie, it basically keeps programs from touching your hard drive.

Next time you start up windows it should be running alright, little programs that hog up the CPU and GPU wont be running as soon as windows starts up, which is what was causing your computer to lagg.

Hi Badea,

I am Kaveri from the Dell Social Media Outreach team.

To isolate the issue between hardware & software, run hardware diagnostics. If all tests are passed, it confirms that the issue is not with hardware on the computer.

- Press the power button to turn on the system
- Press F12 repeatedly or Fn+power until you see boot menu
- Select diagnostic

and wait for the test to complete . In case you get any error please make a note of it
Otherwise it is a problem with the software. You can do PC restore to bring the system back to factory settings. Please find the steps below to do PC restore.

As soon as you turn on the system tap F8 key 7-8 times to get the recovery option.
Step 1 : After getting to system recovery options click on 6th (last) option - 'dell data safe and emergency back-up' and wait for few seconds for next screen.
Step 2 : On next screen, click on 2nd option – ‘select other system and more options’.
Step 3 : On next screen, click on 2nd option – ‘restore my computer’.
Step 4 : On next screen highlight the option ‘factory image’ and then click on ‘next’.
Step 5 : On next screen click on 2nd option – ‘restore without preserving new and used files’.
Step 6 : Click on – ‘YES’

Note# "Please back up data to avoid data loss while the computer is restored back to Factory settings".

In case of any further assistance Please feel free to contact me directly by sending a reply to this blog.
We would recommend you do not post your private information on a public forum.

Thanks & Regards
KaveriD
