That is a really good internet speed. Most people don't have any even close to that. That is regular hi-speed internet speed.

SPEED is not the issue. Speed is determined by the hardware you use to connect to your ISP and is mostly constant. Speed changes, slows actually, only when the signal is of poor quality or there is outside interference. THROUGHPUT (data moved per unit time) is what counts. Your connect speed might be 4mbs or 40mbs, but if you only move 1 MB of data per minute, your throughput sucks. The 40mbs speed rating means you COULD move data that fast IF you were alone on the wire, with NO other users! It is a maximum potential rate of throughput. The problem is other users. Cable broadband and wireless connections are like a party line. The access point has only one transmitter so it can "talk" to only ONE user at a time. The more users, the less time each user gets, the less data moves per second per user. The name for this general slowdown is "the party line effect". You can not do anything about the cable to your ISP, but you CAN dump wireless in favor of wire to at least get rid of the party line in your house. Your best performance will be had with ONE computer running ONE application. Anything added divides your throughput from your ISP among however many applications and computers are sharing the data with your ISP.
