If I switch my site to https does it reset my google rankings?
Meaning will this have an impact in where I show up on search results in google?

No.
There's certainly no automatic penalty for using https instead of http. All you have to be careful of is how you make the transition. For example, if you still have the HTTP site active then Google will see two duplicate sets of content (one via the http:// site and one via the https:// site). Google aren't dumb, but it could have a short term impact if they see loads of 'new' content appearing which is duplicated elsewhere. So perhaps use rel="canonical" and 301 redirects to transition correctly. Ads |

I know that www. and non www versions of an address get ranked separating, diluting a site's search ranking, I have not seen a switch to https discussed, because there is more overhead for encryption that an slow load time, using https with an SSL certified domain usually restricted to just the pages that really need it, which are coincidentally the ones you typically block from indexing anyway.
