I see facebook EVERYWHERE. Am I going crazy or something? It was on barnes and noble, tv guide, and yahoo. That's all I can think of right now. xD

It's cause Facebook is a really popular social networking program thing and it's just awesome and addicting. I guess its everywhere cause its popular.

Its an amazing avenue for advertising.
Think about it this way, every time someone press Like on any article on a website, it gets plastered on that persons wall and send to their friends wall. So its like free advertising for that website.
So its a win, win solution for both the facebook and the website affiliated.
Facebook gets to advertise and the website does too

Because it's a free and easy way for big companies to have a Web Presence, and get an idea of how their customers use FB. Once they know those kinds of things they can individually target you with ads based on seeing what other sites you visit, what your other "likes" are, etc.

It's all a big marketing deal. Zuckerberg probably never envisioned Facebook being used this way ... or maybe he did!

because its Facebook, one of the most popular websites ever. Businesses use it to been seen more in other words, more traffic to their website. There's a lot of reasons to it but mainly its for marketing, if you have announcements about your store, on discounts or w/e and you have all these followers chances are people are going to buy that item.
