Why is a minecraft server I go on no longer working?

I updated to 1.7.2 and have gone on a server (not mine) many times after the update and it has worked. However, today I tried to go on the server and it did not work. It says: "Failed to Connect to the Server; Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadExceptionTimeout." I've done some research and they say that the message comes up when a server didn't update to the newest version. But it did, and I did play on it after the update. Any help would be much appreciated.
