I'm confused by boys please help!!!?

So there's this boy that I'm pretty close to and we talk almost everyday and night. When he's with me we flirt a lot and we get along really well. He's told me on social media websites that he likes me,but when asked by my friend he denies it! His friends always say to me that he likes me and all this. On valentines day his friend kept asking him under his breath when he's going to ask me out. Also the boy was pretty touchy feely and really sensitive, and I was sure he liked me.
But now I'm pretty confused as to whether or not he likes me because he said to my friends that's he doesn't, when he tells me that he does.
So the question is,is he toying with my head or my friends? Is it because he's embarrassed or shy?
P.s this boy is my old ex boyfriend.

Well he might not want your friends to know that he likes you as they might spread things around to other people including you. I'd say that he likes you and you should perhaps ask him out.

Get your friends to stop mentioning it. Trust me, it is THE WORST when people in schools are all like "you totally like her" etc etc, just makes it incredibly awkward. He does like you, just let it flow, try and be alone with him sometime.
