It doesn't have any special meaning, is just a some kind of notification you can send to someone in order that you call out their attention.

Pretty much like poking someone in real life.
A small little playful gesture to get someone's attention, but some people consider it flirting.
I just think it's a harmless act, I mean, it's just a little button XD

It serves no real purpose other than the get their attention. When you "poke" someone on Facebook, they will get a notification saying "[your name] has poked you"

By poking someone on facebook, you have sent the person a reminder that you have thought of them. It can also act as hello. When a person is sent a poke on facebook, they get a message on the home page that he or she has been poked......this is perfect explanation of it...!!!!

u can poke anyone in fb...its jst a simple thing nothing more than that!!!
