I am getting lesser speed than i am paying for?
I am supposed to get 8 megabite speed, but yet i used to get 6-7.5 megabite speed, i didn't used to complain, but now suddenly my speed is lowered to 2 megabites, is this the fault of my ISP? or my router? My router is 2 years old, but it works well and good.

check the claim from your ISP its often "Up to XX mb" but if youve recived a drop in speed you could contact your ISP and there techs can support you from there

you may have to persist on the issue until you reach third level support where the real engineers are they will be able to help you best it may be there are more people in your area so your speed has been reduced (poor contention ratio) or that there is another issue they can resolve by boosting your signal from the exchange

Check on your ISPs website to see if there is a proble in your area.

Some ISPs have a speed check on their website
Use this at least 3 times throughout different times during the day.
( morning / afternoon / evening )
This will then be recorded on your account.

Make a note of the readings yourself for evidence.

If the speed is consistently low then contact your ISP with the evidence that you have.

One more thing ....

If you are using a wireless connection to test the speed - connect to your router with a cable and test it again.
Your ISP will not be interested in wireless speeds.
If the speed is OK with a cable then your problem lies with either your router or your wireless adapter.

Hope this helps.
