How to update Firmware on Samsung Galaxy 3 GT I5800?

This phone is really complicated. Everytime I try to get help I can never get it because it's made somewhere other than the US. The Fireware is old, 2.1 and I went on Samsung Kies to update it but it can't for some reason. Many people with the phone have this problem. I tried other ways to like downloading something called ODIN and manually doing it, but some files are missing that I can't get. Any way to update this phone please? I tried calling them but of course they can't help me. I want instagram on it.

Update 'em via visiting the phone settings and then, select "Update"...
