Will "renewing" my wordpress posts damage SEO.?
I have 15 large posts on my wordpress site. I'm ranking in Google okay for search terms relating to the content, now I know a few others have copied/quoted the content online but this isn't an issue because Google clearly recognises I'm the owner due to using webmasters and Google Authorship and submitting it first.

However what happens if I now go in and renew my content - Will Google now see these as brand new content and put me in last place then as regards "the first to post the content"?
Please offer me some advice as my posts are really in need of an update regarding hyperlinks, pictures and content changes but I don't want to do it in case my rankings drop.

Really appreciate any advice or feedback, thanks.

If you go ahead and change, that means you are going to embress change too. your situation is the same as one using http://www.semwogerere.com. This way he divides traffic because these are two different sites. You to changing your content will be creating new content too. the first content wont matter because the will no longer exist. But updating they is acceptable.

Actually, Google will favor webmasters who update their present content regularly. Your rankings might drop temporarily as Google reshuffles its index, but you will soon see it rise again. Google will see it as updated content NOT brand new content. Just remember to write for people, not search engines and great rankings will follow. As long as the URL address of the page stays the same - you do not have to worry about that. Updating and renewing the page will bring benefits only. If you decide to change the URL (better don't) - 301 redirect to the new address.

Another tip here: as soon as you publish the post, share it via all the social channels you run.

As long as URL remain same it won't hurt. if you change the url, you need to redirect the old url to new so that i does not loose seo value
