Is this Facebook app safe to use?

I want to use this app on this site for my cover page, they have so many nice ones to choose from! Plus it looks safe since many users use it. But the thing I'm not sure about is whether it is safe since it asks for my personal info like my profile info (name, ID, birthdate, etc), or whatever's public on my page they'll have, my email, and photos. I don't get why they need all this for!??

Like seriously. And it's not like they asking this for just this app.....it's like EVERY app on Facebook. Do they really use or share the info they collect and how I know for sure it will be safe?? I never used any apps before primarily for this reason, as I try keep my page private and for safety reasons. But I really want to use this (and some other apps my friends gave me as well).
So, I'm just not sure if it's really worth it or safe? Thanks.
@Ashley C: How can I do that? Can you please tell me specifically or like in detail? Like the steps?? I tried and went to my facebook page under privacy settings and changed that for the app, but still this app is asking me for this info and I'm afraid it will get it all. How can I edit that? Like is it on the app or I have to go on the site again and where??? Sorry for all the questions! I'm such a newb >.<

you can now control what information the app sees. just click the X next to the things you dont want it to see when you authroise it.
