Do you get a warning if you visit a bad website?
I was just wandering, a while ago (about a year ago) I visited these websites and there was always a warning before it let me on. I can't remember if the warning said 'this site may harm your computer' or if it said 'this site includes illegal material'. I can't remember which one it said, but I keep over worrying and over thinking and convincing myself that it was the warning about it being illegal :/ does that warning even exist? Either way, I kept continuing to access the website anyway. I'm really scared :/

If it was an illegal website, it wouldn't have a warning. Some porn sites will have a warning that you need to be 18, but that doesn't really stop anyone.

Every browser has its' own security features, if you set your preferences to make use of them - Firefox, for example.

Percy Verence is right. Many browsers have a built-in list of fraudulent and/or attack sites, many of which are provided by Google.

My advice would be to stay away from those kinds of sites. They don't have anything you could want, and for those that do (say, porn), there are many safer alternatives.

There are add-ons that can help protect your browser from exploits and your computer from malware. NoScript, AdblockPlus, and Ghostery are two very good free add-ons that are available for all browsers. Also, I recommend using Firefox instead of Chrome, and stay the hell away from Internet Explorer!

If a site was illegal it probably would not be up at all. Most likely it was a 'might harm your computer' which is a big RED warning. Or it was 'must be 18 to enter this site' sort of thing.
