Interview with the Facebook founder?

I was watching Nightline last and seen the interview withe founder of Facebook. He said he was offered Billions for Facebook but he declined the offer because, it something he built on his own. I believe that is what he said. I heard that is already a millionaire and they didn't go into it because he didn't want ot talk about certain things. My question is how did he become a millionaire. He doesn't charge the members of facebook a fee and from what I heard he works for facebook with all of the guys that was featured on Night Line. They did the interview at the Facebook HQ.
