I have never found a carrier plan for that low of a cost for any smart phone. The only ones that low are for basic phones that only make phone calls and SMS capability. No Internet or any other frills that smart phones do.

You should first figure out what you need your phone to do then look for one with those capabilities. You can get one with a pay as you go plan which allows you the minimum cost otherwise your looking at at least $40 a month for a smart phone.

Hi Ronan

In regards to what AimeeTwilight said; i agree that blackberry's have become generally irreliable but speaking of the the blackberry z10, it is one of the best phones for your budget. I have one and the battery life is decent while the phone itself is superfast and has only played up on me once in 4 months, therefore mine has proved to be very reliable. According to recent news blackberry developers are working on & transferring essential android apps to the blackberry os market, therefore there is a future for blackberry app-wise plus if you only need certain essential apps you'd be fine with a blackberry.

I also found out that apple's instagram app works with Z10. and It has a decent 4.4 score out of 5.0 from reviews at carphone warehouse. I think the common negative point with the z10 appears to be its unique swipe gesture operating system which isn't everyone's cup of tea but that should be classed as preference rather than a negative point. I therefore suggest that you do not have to worry about the z10 since it's a great phone from my experience and most owners of the Z10 as long as you can get used to its new system with no hardware buttons. I may also point out that the Z10 is a 4G phone.

However, if you're not happy with choosing the Z10, I strongly recommend the Samsung Galaxy S3 which is still a strong contender in the high-end market despite the release of the S4 recently. Its HD super amoled display. its powerful quad-core processor, its sturdy design and innovative features are still up against this years mid-ranged smartphones and still beats most of them.

If you wish to have a break from android, blackberry os and ios or just wish to go for a new platform which is excelling well right now, then I strongly recommend the Nokia Lumia 820 for free at only £15.50 a month which runs on the windows 8 operating system. I find the built quality and feel of this phone more resilient to scratches (if you buy the black one since its made of rubber) and comfortable in hand than both the Z10 and the Galaxy S3 which some people find too tall. It is one of the best mid-ranged all-rounders and looks great too. It is just as powerful as the Z10 being a 4G phone and both also run on a 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor.
