Tor will not let me connect through google chrome?
I have downloaded the Tor browser package, and when I run Validia, it opens up the tor browser as it should. But when I use Proxy Switchie on Google chrome to connect to it, it cannot connect. I want to try and get this working, and also if anyone knows how to make the tor server start on windows start up and run in the background, that would be really helpful as well.

I would suggest to not use your every day OS if you wan true anonymity (especially Windows). Put either Liberte Linux or TAILS on a usb and boot from it. The US government has been exploiting flaws in Windows and Firefox to compromise peoples anonymity.

You must either route Chrome or your proxy addon through Vidalia.

Open Vidalia and click Message Log then Advanced tab. See where it says "open socks listener on 127.0.0.1:xxxx"? About the 5th line down.

Set the proxy to 127.0.0.1 and the port to whatever is after the : If it says 127.0.0.1:2345, then set the port to 2345.

Then all the traffic will be routed through Vidalia and then through the Tor network.

But like I stated, there are just too many things in your computer that will compromise your anonymity. Boot into an OS that has nothing that will tell on you and all traffic to and from your machine will be through the Tor network.
