craigslist trade, the guy thinks its rip off?
I sold a Honda mower to a guy on craigslist, nothing wrong with mower, just needed some $... he comes over pays immediately, and takes it when I suggest we should start it but nope... the next day he brings it back all pissed and shows me it starts then shuts off... he said fix it or else ill need my money back... so he leaves, says he'll come back in a few days, and I look at the mower... I turn on the gas valve and works fine(this guy is a dumb ass!) ... I call him back and there is no voice mail... this creeps me out... so ya, ANY ADVICE!!!! ps, I already spent the money... should I say here, the mower works, fine, is this deal over? or if he wants his money back, do we get the law involved?

If you never promised any certain quality than he does not have the right to get his money back. The mower also works so the deal is done. You don't have to pay him back, even if he never picks the mower back up.

It was sold, its like a food item that has been handed over the counter of a McDonalds, once the costlier takes it, it CANNOT be returned and CANNOT be complained about.
And by my random example I mean there is no reason why he should take his money back, even if it was broken in his care, it is his property and no longer your problem and item to fix.
But you were kind and tested it and it works. I'd sayfor the "just in case" call him back over and show him how to turn it on, then drive it around your lawn for a few minutes showing him it works, thusly disclosing any further complaint of being broken.

Using CL means that you will be dealing with strangers. Some nice; some weird. This guy may never show up again. Wait 60 days and re-sell the mower. If he shows up, hand over the mower .... showing him the gas valve. He bought it. It is his.

In the future, handle all CL sales like they were business deals. Write out a Bill Of Sale (just a plain piece of paper) listing the price. Put a big AS IS on the paper. You can even write that you gave the buyer a chance to try out the mower on your lawn before purchase. Both of you sign and date.
