I did a Google search for Abstract Art and saw no result for any of the 435,000 Etsy accounts in to pages of Google results, it would appear that SEO for an Etsy store may be a waste of time. I did see Pinterest, Squidoo and Ebay results show up in those 10 pages, it may be more effective to create social site pages and maybe your own site to SEO and link to the Etsy store.

I have heard that paying Etsy for high ranking results in their internal searches may be the most effective alternative.

It is hard to be found on Etsy when there are so many people using the same keywords. You might want to try something like Google's Keyword tool to see if there are any words that will work for you that are less competitive.

Mike O's point to list your work on other sites is also wise. Etsy is competitive.

Additionally, you need to put your content in other places on the internet that point back to your etsy shop. Are you doing social marketing? Are you on Pinterest? Do you know how to use Pinterest as a business? Learn how to work it to help you get the word out.

Can you make a video that teach people how to prep a canvas, make confetti or whatever you decide? You can make it, put it up on YouTube and have it link to your etsy shop.

You can create an infographic that shows creative steps or your process that you put up on FB and Pinterest, that have links to your work.

You can approach bloggers who might like your work to write a piece about you or you can offer to write a piece for their blog.

Do you have your own site that has a link to your etsy page? This is a good place for people to learn more about you and show options available on Etsy. You can also put your website up on your Etsy description. When people visit your site, try to get them to sign up for your newsletter. Once you have a list started, you can create content for e-mails which is a great way to market your work.

There are a few ideas. Art is all about marketing. Good luck.

Optimizing your Etsy shop product listings for the search engines requires you to write a good product title and also a good product description.

Think like a shopper and use keywords in both your product title and product description that a shopper would use when conducting a search on one of the search engines.

Do not keyword stuff/spam your product titles. There is no need to repeat any words in your product titles 3, 4 or more times.

The first paragraph of the product description is the most important for SEO. Long product descriptions are much better than short product descriptions.
