How do you get so many likes on your facebook page? without advertising?

I'm an Artist and have created my own like page of all my work. However it isn't going very well. I've only managed to claim 18 likes so far, I have tried inviting all my facebook friends numerous times, but only 12 responded, the rest just ignored it.

What else should I do?

I don't want to be cheeky and post it on other like pages, although I could do that, but I just feel ignorant doing that.

I was also thinking of making some Business cards and just display them in the shop window or something. I don't know what else to do without feeling an idiot.

I would do the advertising on facebook, but I don't fully understand it and I don't want to end up being charged thousands of pounds.

im not so sure because you dont want to share it on other peoples wall but what you can do is make one of those free websites and put your pictures and describe hat you do and add some detail, and at the bottom of the page you can just say, like my facebook page Sarah Chesher and put a link to the page, you can use webs.com to make a free website , its free and simple to use, and once your done that you can post it on your facebook and you can maybe ask some of your friends that are close and would like to help you to invite them to your page , i hope that helps you (:
