Ok, I'll try to cover why the people saying the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III are better are wrong.

I'll be brief with the iPhone 5, as you asked about the Galaxy S III (feel free to e-mail or IM me if you want more information on the matter). In short, Apple's latest device lacks NFC, a feature put in the Samsung Galaxy Nexus back in 2010. The Retina Display is a joke on the iPhone, and has a lower pixel density than the 920 (326 for Apple, 331 for Nokia).

The MAJOR reason the Lumia 920 wins out is that it costs $100, half the price of the $200 S III, while ALSO coming with a free wireless charger ($50 normally). The two phones have the same CPU (Snapdragon S4 in the US; the international S III has the Exynos 4 or something, I forget its specific moniker), so that's a wash. The Galaxy S III has a big larger screen (4.8" vs. 4.5", and I'll put the S III numbers first each time, unless explicitly stated otherwise), but the Lumia 920 has a bit higher resolution (1280x720 vs. 1280x768), meaning the pixel density on the Lumia 920 is much better (don't know the S III's ppi, but more pixels on a smaller screen for the Lumia means higher density by the definition of the word). The Lumia's display also has the fastest refresh rate of any phone ever (9 ms on the Lumia; the competition is around 23 ms), and super-sensitive touch, allowing it to be used with one's fingernails, or while wearing gloves.

Then, the storage. This is a little bit of a tricky one. If you're a MAJOR media hog, then the S III wins out here. However, it has 16 GB in its $200 device, but you can put a microSD in to expand the memory. The Lumia 920 has no expansion slot, but it comes with 32 GB in its $100 device. I've got over 1,800 songs and a few episodes of Doctor Who (5 videos), and I'm at about 21 GB. Most people can get by with 16 GB, but ALMOST EVERYONE should be able to make due with 32 GB. Again, the Lumia's half the price of the Galaxy, and you're getting twice the S III's initial storage.

Now, apps are a tricky thing. Android has a lot more, but they also have LOADS of copycat ones (so look for something like a unit converter, and try to see if there are fewer than 20 on the Google Play store). Android also counts wallpapers as apps, which are just pictures. What matters more than app count is what you want to do. The only major apps missing on WP from Android are Instagram (which will hopefully come sometime soon, though I don't care about it), Dropbox (which SkyDrive can replace easily, and the latter offers more free storage), and Pandora (coming in early-2013, AND with a full year of ad-free streaming ,which you won't get on Android or iOS). What I've found, though, is what WP (specifically, Nokia) offers me that Android lacks is a much bigger deal.

I've had Xbox LIVE for nearly a decade), so that I can use my Xbox LIVE account to earn achievements and play online with my phone is pretty cool. In 2 years on Android, I found a few games here and there that were OK, but none really ever lasted more than a couple of weeks. On Windows Phone, I've already plalyed lots of Minesweeper, which is really fun. Now, I'm playing a lot of Wordament, and the cool part of that game is that you face EVERYONE playing online at the same time (usually about 1,000 people in English). There are several other games I've been playing (Flowerz is great, Trine's Hangman is cool, and I'll stop there before I REALLY end up rambling) as well, so you'll definitely find plenty of entertainment.

Now, what is REALLY cool is what you specifically get from Nokia. City Lens is neat, but not all that useful unless you're on vacation in a new place. The app essentially fires up the camera and provides you with the places you're near (the filter I use to show it off is food, so you see the nearby restaurants on your phone). It's not super-useful, but it's cool and the Galaxy S III lacks that. Nokia Maps also allows you to download maps offline in a better manner than Google Maps (Nokia Maps downloads the country; Google Maps downloads the current trip only).

The real crown jewel, though is Nokia Music, I listen to a LOT of music This is, on its face, a streaming service like Pandora. However, it's free, and it's 100% ad-free. The only constraint is you only get 6 skips per hour. What makes it so special? You can download up to 4 playlists to your phone, meaning you can use the streaming service offline, so it's not eating up data. Unlimited, ad-free music streaming--you won't find that on the Galaxy S III.

Anyway, I've given you a lot. E-mail me if you actually care to get more information.

from specs, definitely Lumia 920. It has more astonishing screen and camera, and battery seems could be last longer: http://www.tune4mac.com/mac-itunes-video...a-920.html
