Ebay voucher not working?

I got a £10 voucher emailed to me by ebay that expires at midnight tonight 26th july and i wanted to buy something for my mother so i bought the item (£23) and used the voucher but i got this error The code you entered is not valid. Please try again. i don't understand the problem can you help?
btw i was on my mothers account when buying the item not mine (the account where i received the voucher)

Have you tried using it on your account? Maybe the code is for your account to prevent a person from stealing your voucher

The voucher is only for your account, so you'll need to buy on that if you want to use it.
